Why can Javascript do for me?

So, I’ve learned HTML and CSS, and I know a little Javascript. I was wondering when I really will need to know javascript. i mean, parallax and smooth scroll are two cool effects, and so are js animations. But when would i need to do as much with javascript as with html or css on a professional website? Thanks in advance.
BTW, any project ideas would be appreciated.

Take a look at some of the following Take Home Projects which are in the Introduction to the Coding Interview Take Home Projects section of the curriculum.

Show the Local Weather
Build a Wikipedia Viewer
Use the Twitch JSON API
Tic Tac Toe Game
Build a Simon Game
Build a Camper Leaderboard
Build a Recipe Box
Build the Game of Life
Build a Roguelike Dungeon Crawler Game

The JavaScript skills needed to create these types of front-end projects are what you need to understand to be able to create what ever a company or client may ask of you.
