Why does this code pen work but not this one (quote generator)?

So I can’t get my quote button to generate a quote I am using forismatic api and I got it working here http://codepen.io/furofo/pen/bwLwjv

but when I try it in this one it won’t generate the text

So my question is what is going on why won’t it display properly?
