Wildlife Documentaries

Ever since I can remember, watching wildlife documentaries has been part of my life and weekly routine. I enjoy watching Animal Planet and National Geographic documentaries about wildlife and conservation.

Learning about animals has always been one of my hobbies. I love reading books and encyclopedias about animals to learn more about their distribution, population dynamics, behavior, conservation status, and more. (Even better if I can also see beautiful pictures of the animals in the wild!).

Wildlife documentaries have been my way to stay connected with that joy of learning more about animals. There’s something very amazing and also humbling about seeing nature in action and the complex dynamics among species in these documentaries.

Do you love watching wildlife documentaries too? Share your thoughts. I look forward to reading them.

I’ve always enjoyed watching wildlife documentaries since I was a kid. I remember that for some time I couldn’t find a documentary about wildlife I hadn’t watched already on National Geographic

I grew up in the countryside and this has been a great opportunity to have direct contact with animals.

Last year I bought a trail cam and I started to discover the nocturnal life of badgers, foxes, porcupines, martens, and wild boars. It’s amazing to see how busy they are during the night and how we share the same space almost without seeing each other.

Yes, I’m a big fan. I definitely learn things when I watch them, but I think they’re more a way for me to relax - and shut my brain off.

The planet earth series really got me into them - definitely watched that series more than once. Same with planet earth 2. It looks like there’s a third one that’s pretty new that I haven’t seen - it’s not on any of my streaming services - I’ll have to try and find a way to check it out.

Some other recommendations I’ve seen somewhat recently: Night on Earth on Netflix - Secrets of the Octopus on Apple TV - and The Year Earth Changed on Apple as well. Possibly available on other platforms.

Do you have any favorites @estefaniacassn?

It’s great that you love wildlife documentaries too, @Dario_DC!

I totally understand the feeling of having watched all documentaries on National Geographic.  Wish we could have so many more, right?

So interesting that you bought a trail cam. I agree, it’s amazing how active these animals are during the night and how they coexist in harmony and balance.

It’s awesome that you’re a big fan of wildlife documentaries too, @moT01!

I find them relaxing too. They help me to learn, focus, and overall feel more relaxed. There’s something amazing about seeing nature with its complex rules and balance.

Thanks for sharing those recommendations. I’ll definitely check them out.

I loved Secrets of the Octopus! :octopus: It’s amazing how intelligent they are and how they learn and adapt to different situations.

One of my favorites is Savage Kingdom. The way that series is narrated really makes me feel immersed in the story. Also, Secrets of the Penguins. That documentary is a masterpiece, in my opinion. And Great Migrations is awesome too.

I also loved the series presented by Jeff Corwin.
