if it’s an img element it can’t be an a element
your a doesn’t have any attributes:
every where else i put my (a) it says its wrong
you do not need to put the a element anywhere else, you need to add the attributes to it
im still trying and cant get it i put what you into use and still cant get it anything i do creates more problems so i put it all back how it was and now im back to only having to solve 30-31
do you still have href and target on the img element? remove them from the img element
add them to the <a> tag
I’ve been trying to do that and every time i do it makes more things incorrect
It helps us help you if you share what you have tried.
<figure><img <a> alt="clear water" src="https://cdn.freecodecamp.org/curriculum/labs/sea.jpg" href="https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn" target="_blank"></a><figcaption>Clear Water</figcaption></figure>
Wrong syntax, anchor element doesn’t goes in an element’s tag like attributes. It’s opening and closing tags are only wrapped around an element tags.
right i thought i was doing that here?
<figure><a><img alt="clear water" src="https://cdn.freecodecamp.org/curriculum/labs/sea.jpg" href="https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn" target="_blank"></a><figcaption>Clear Water</figcaption></figure>
So now, what’s the test asking?
Also post your full html file in your next reply
still says 30-31 are wrong

30. Each a element should have an href attribute with the value of https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn.
Failed:
31. Each a element should have a target attribute with the value of _blank.
Do any of your three a elements have a href or target attribute? I don’t see them.
Did you have an href attribute and the required link as a value within the anchor elements as test asking for?
this element has the href and target attributes, this is NOT the a element
remove href and target from the img element
this is one a element, it doesn’t have any attribute

Do you have an image element inside of your anchor elements?
