I’ve never really been the type of person to collect things, but recently I realized I’ve been collecting something without even noticing - orchids! I currently have 22 of them 
Whenever there’s a holiday or a special occasion, my friends usually gift me a new orchid. Surprisingly, they’re much easier to take care of than most people think. This beauty is one of my favourites:

I’m really into collecting storage boxes, kinda weird, right? Haha. I’m always browsing for them, online or in stores. You know, the tiny ones for earrings and necklaces, desk organizers, clothing bins, cable cases…

I like watching restock ASMRs, especially the kitchen ones. The creators use tons of storage boxes and containers, and this way there’s no visual noise which makes me happy! I started doing this too - I reuse peanut butter jars as tea herbs containers (I stuck to one brand so the jars are the same hahaha)
Yes, I was surprised too with how easy it is to take care of such a delicate-looking flower! Great picture.
I have a white orchid sitting on my window sill, but it’s been months since it last bloomed and all it does is sprout tons of leaves and new shoots instead of buds. Do you have any tips to get it to bloom again? Or is it just an annual cycle of some sort?

Honestly… I totally get you because I’m exactly the same. I love organizing things around my house, and I can’t stand seeing things scattered on tables or floors, so I’m always buying little storage boxes too.
I usually go to MUJI (無印良品) because their storage boxes are so beautifully minimalist, and they have every size imaginable! I’m pretty sure there’s a MUJI near you too, so if you haven’t been there yet, you should definitely check it out.

I’ve always wanted to grow plants, but unfortunately, the plants I’ve tried taking care of from time to time never seemed to live very long… I felt so bad about it that I’m currently not growing anything at all.
Because orchids look so delicate and beautiful, I always assumed they must be difficult to take care of. So I’m honestly surprised to hear that they’re easier than people think! Now I kind of want to give it a try too. If I ever get an orchid, I’ll definitely have to learn all your orchid-care tips from you!

We just got one on sale from a local gardening store nearby. It’s a bit sad looking now, but we’re hoping to nurse it back to health.
I used to collect zines, records, and video games, though I’ve moved so much over the past 15 years that I really cut down on physical media. These days I mostly stick to comic and ebook bundles from places like Humble Bundle. The problem is that my backlog is huge now, and I doubt I’ll ever catch up!
MUJI is the best! They were pretty common in Korea and I used to like checking out all the travel organizers. I’ve had one of their hanging toiletry cases for years and it’s still going strong. Their pens and notebooks are great, too.
Do you use the stick or the vitamin fluid you have to pin into the soil or what are you using?
We have 7 orchids and a few even fake ones where normal orchid is impossible to grow. In Hungary it´s a tradition for many to have orchids at home and it´s a common gift too for housewifes there. My mother-in-law have around 20 orchids for example. I don´t have a photo, but one of them looks like fire. 
I want to ask: Do you all brought/buy orchids as a whole with soil and pot or are you doing your own setups?
I only know one person who does that and he don´t want to share his “secrets”, but I´m really interested how is it possible.
And who does orchid bending? Like forming a hearth with 2 orchids and properly placed sticks together? 
And I guess I have to confess first I´m a big video game collector since 2012. I have more then 1000 games on: Steam/Blizzard/GoG; PS2; CD/DVDs; uhmm… “third party” CD/DVD/Pendrives (from the times I was really poor).
I have old demo cds from old IT magazines. Yes, it was a cd with a lot of free stuff, but no game was full-version, only trial or demo. I even have an original, unpacked Windows Xp in original foil and handbook.
Just on steam I have 808 games (and 870 dlc) with 370 unplayed and I started to buy in recent years digital artbooks and soundstracks too. Most of the time I felt the devs deserved more money for their Art/game then asked and it served as an extra, then one day I started to read/look at them and they are amazing most time.
I´m most proud of having the R. Michalski games (he made the best hidden indie gems ever beside Yai Gameworks), Scorn, Frostpunk, and the whole Warhammer 40k universe expanding constantly in my libraries. After getting a dev job in the future, I want to start reading the books too in order.
My PS2 collection been victim 2 times to stealing, so I stopped collecting them because of this experience. I had a special Grand Turismo worth 140 dollars back then, also lost. And it´s getting hard to care of PS2 consoles and the broken cds.
So I rather focus on digital products for some years.
I want to collect cactus too, I´m currently planning a cactus garten in the backyard.
It happens annually. Mine start blooming around February and usually last until July.
Do you use any fertilizer? And next time it blooms, I’d recommend leaving the old flower spike, as it can produce a side branch.
There’s a “shock therapy” method, but I’ve never tried it. It mimics their natural habitat with a sudden temperature drop and is often used to encourage them to bloom again. Good luck with your orchid!

You could also try growing viola flowers or snake plants. I have them too and they only require water - so easy! The atmosphere of the house immediately changes once you add some plants:)
Haha, mine stopped blooming around February and haven’t bloomed until now (July), lol! I suppose the annual cycle is a little different for mine.
I have started using liquid fertilizer in the last few months and it has begun sprouting plenty of new leaves, but no flowers. Maybe I should try a different brand.
If that doesn’t work, I just might consider the “shock therapy”, lol! Probably should wait a few more months for that natural blooming cycle to arrive before taking the risk.

I recently got a sad looking orchid too. I cut the bad roots and repotted it hoping for the best 
My grandmas often give me their unhealthy orchids and it’s always exciting to finally see what color they are!
I also have a backlog problem. I’ve been buying many books - there’s around ten I haven’t read yet. Maybe one day we’ll catch up
Wow, a fire looking orchid must be really beautiful! I recently got an oncidium - it looks a bit like fire too due to its unusual shape. And it has a nice aroma!
I usually use a liquid orchid fertilizer that I dilute in water.
I buy them already potted but if I see bad roots I cut them off. And it’s highly recommended to remove a nursery plug (the roots can be too wet because of this). But my mom is against repotting them so it’s up to the owner I guess 
I know some people use an open system to grow their orchids - simply growing them in a glass vase without any substrate. I haven’t tried it so I’m not sure whether this method works better
Your game collection is seriously impressive! Over 800 games is quite the library, and it’s cool that you collect other things too.
A cactus garden is a cool idea! They look incredible and usually are easy to take care of. Best of luck! 
I checked and it doesn’t look like there’s any sort of fertilizer spike in our orchid. It came in a pretty small plastic container now with what looks like orchid bark or some other substrate. The roots look alright, though there are a couple of roots creeping out of the container that probably need to be trimmed.
Right now we’re just going to trim the flower spike once the rest of the flowers fall off and hope for the best later!
That’s a nice collection of games you got there! I used to love those demo disks that came in magazines or as pack-ins with other titles back in the day. I looked up R. Michalski and those kind of point-and-click games look really cool. I’m so jumpy that I’m not sure I can handle them, but I’ll watch some reviews and pick up one during the next Steam sale 
Also, sorry about your PS2 collection being stolen not once, but twice. That’s a real bummer. Like you mentioned, those consoles are pretty hard to come by these days, and even if you can find one you’ll probably need to repair it. I remember those discs being really fragile, too. Hopefully you’re able to rebuild your collection a bit someday.
I looked up and they are called aerial roots in english. Orchids naturally climb trees and these roots helping them.
I just leave them dry completely and then it´s easy to remove. I fear of pruning them, Orchids can be sensitive. For example there are kinds who hate wind. I have such (2 actually) and it feels random when do they bloom. I mean I have to change the air in the house somehow and they are not appreciating it.
When you say “shock therapy” it´s when you shower them?

I think the CHIP magazine gave a cd once with a free antivirus software on it. There were a lot of different stuff really, the few times we can say “everything was better before.”
May you know the endless trial tricks too for trial versions? I loved those.
Sometimes a game simply had a launcher for checking your trial time, but I have found out there are .exe and .bat files wich directly starts the game/software, bypassing the launcher (sometimes, not all the time was that simple).
Or simply adjust your PC´s date and time to your trial starting time. There were many backdoors.
My favourite was when a demo deleted your progress after you closed the demo, but with alt+tab you were able to find out where are the new files created in the games folder during the play and simply copied them before exiting.
This is how I learned that some games create files in the systems documents folder.

It was also kinda common for me that I eventually found a full version of a game and it didn´t run smoothly or at all, but the demo from the demo disk did. I guess they “trimmed” the files similar way like presentational demo works on game presentations like during E3 and such. It looks perfect there, and on you computer at home is different.
Me too actually, I can´t play Outlast for example, but I´m really interested in it´s story, but… oh well…
I can´t share private stuff according to the forum guidelines, so all I can tell is Michalski´s games came to me at the right place and a right time when I needed them, so those games(even Frostpunk and Scorn too) had a very serious impact who I am today and I totally understand if others doesn´t feel this way after playing them.
I think Downfall is the best from R. Michalski so far, I didn´t played his last 2 games yet (didn´t know about them until last week lol.). It´s a very grotesque love story, but for me it IS the true love story. It´s all about how do you handle your relationship and the visuals are … very hard to put into words. It´s a mix of Joe´s and Ivy´s mind mixed with reality and the “other side” while time bends too.
If you are into spirituality you can say the visual are a mix of Truth and Human Reality.
And it is the less scariest in the “Devil came trough” triology in my opinion, so I may say you should try this one first if you want explore the genius of Michalski and see how jumpy you become for trying the other games too.
And I love David Firth as a doctor. I recommend to watch his Health Remainder animation triology if you like his doctor character in Downfall. It´s hilarious for me.
There are still uncommon in eastern Europe. I even found once a Sega Dreamcast too somehow (it wass full yellow btw), but no games or a second controller for it and nobody knows/knew this system around me, so it´s hard to “flex” with this here.
The hardest repair is the disk readers. I have no idea how to fix them.
Maybe you know Cowboy Bepop? There is an episode when they have to travel to a planet where VHS players still exist and there is only one person who can reapair such machine. This is how hard to find true professional for cd readers too IRL.
It´s getting cheaper to find disk cleaner machines (to remove screatches), but for PS2 you need the expensive ones, because of this dark layer the disks at the bottom and the machines supposed to rebuild the broken layer too, otherwise it´s just technically eroding by the layers becoming thinner.
I knew a collector who had a huge machine with different kind of sand and plastic in it. I think it was around 4000 euros several years ago… well, it does the trick for 8minute/disk for 10 bucks.
I´m not planning to rebuild my physical collection, maybe if I will have an empty room in the future, I will make a play room/office and try out what I can.
Thank you for beliving me to beluid it, but I accept the time passing by. Gripping too hard on the past easily poisons ones mind.
And I think I already have enaugh games for the rest of my life. If I finished them all, then maybe I play World of Warcraft for the rest of my life. It´s already seems endless, so it might be the perfect last game to play.
