Build a Word Counter - Step 1

Tell us what’s happening:

Sorry, but the “Build a Word Counter” test is not valid! The correct code is not accepted in steps 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8.
My code:
function printCharacters(str) {
for (const char of str) {
console.log(char);
}
}
printCharacters(“hello”);
function getMatchedWordCount(sentence, match) {
let count = 0;
for (const word of sentence) {
if (word === match) {
count++;
}
console.log(Checking "${word}" against "${match}" | Running count: ${count});
}
return count;
}

???

Your code so far

Welcome to the forum @7209717

Please post just the code for step 1 that is failing. I copied your code from the “My code:” section and it passed.

You can also try one of the following steps to move forward.

Click on the “Restart Step” button and force a refresh of your page with CTRL + F5 then try to paste the code in again.

or - Try the step in incognito or private mode.

or - Disable any/all extensions that interface with the freeCodeCamp website (such as Dark Mode, Ad Blockers, or Spellcheckers), and set your browser zoom level to 100%. Both of these factors can cause tests to fail erroneously.

or - Ensure your browser is up-to-date or try a different browser.

I hope one of these will work for you.

Happy coding

Hi

Your code looked ok to me for each of those steps. For step 8 though you have added extra code that wasn’t asked for.
