Can you help me about Controlled Input challenge

I think it should be right. But the console says “Build error, open your browser console to learn more.”

I cannot see my mistake… :roll_eyes:

Your code so far

class ControlledInput extends React.Component {
constructor(props) {
  super(props);
  this.state = {
    input: ''
  };
  // Change code below this line
  this.handleChange = this.handleChange.bind(this);
  // Change code above this line
}
// Change code below this line
handleChange(event) {
  this.setState({
    input: event.target.value
  })
}
// Change code above this line
render() {
  return (
    <div>
      { /* Change code below this line */}
      <input value={this.state.input} onChange={this.handleChange()} />
      { /* Change code above this line */}
      <h4>Controlled Input:</h4>
      <p>{this.state.input}</p>
    </div>
  );
}
};

Challenge: Create a Controlled Input

I didn’t take a closer look, but i suppose that’s the problem - you are executing that function at run time. You shouldn’t call it that way. Just pass it without () and it will be called for you. Or pass a function…

onChange = {() => this. sth()}

Thank you very much. I didn’t know the paranthesis detail.
I’ve been searching for my mistake for 40 min. :exploding_head:

it’s a pleasure.
Quick note:

// will be called with the event object
// so u could do whatever pleases you with it in `handleChange`
onChange = {handleChange}

// you manually pass it here
// that's  how JS behaves
onChange = {event => handleChange(event)}
