CSS Grid: Use grid-area Without Creating an Areas Template

Hello, the example here is inverted
in the tutorial

its showing

grid-area: horizontal line to start at / vertical line to start at / horizontal line to end at / vertical line to end at;

When it actually is

grid-area: vertical line to start at / horizontal  line to start at / vertical line to end at / horizontal line to end at;

This left me a little confused for some time hahah
