WARNING

The challenge seed code and/or your solution exceeded the maximum length we can port over from the challenge.

You will need to take an additional step here so the code you wrote presents in an easy to read format.

Please copy/paste all the editor code showing in the challenge from where you just linked.

Replace these two sentences with your copied code.
Please leave the ``` line above and the ``` line below,
because they allow your code to properly format in the post.

Challenge: Functional Programming - Use the filter Method to Extract Data from an Array

Link to the challenge:

Since the filter and map methods return new arrays, you just need to call the filter method on the original array and assign the result to filteredList. Currently, you have not specified a specific array to filter nor have you assigned the result to filteredList. All you have done is assigned watchList to filteredList which makes filteredList the same array as the original watchList array.

let filteredList = Array.prototype.filter; (watchList);

It helps if you use your own words to talk about your code and the challenge when posting more code.

This isn’t how you call the filter method on an array.

Here is an example:

const usersUnder30 = users.filter(user => user.age < 30);

const filteredList = watchList
filteredList.filter(movie => movie.imdbRating >= 8.0)
  .map(movie => ({ title: movie["Title"], rating: movie["imdbRating"] }));

It still really, really helps if you use your own words to talk to us. Do you need additional help with that code?

yes, I need help… it can not pass… this the hint message.
filteredList should equal [{"title": "Inception", "rating": "8.8"}, {"title": "Interstellar", "rating": "8.6"}, {"title": "The Dark Knight", "rating": "9.0"}, {"title": "Batman Begins", "rating": "8.3"}] .

Are you doing anything with the return value of the map? map and filter do not change the original array

this was the instruction for the challenge:
The variable watchList holds an array of objects with information on several movies. Use a combination of filter and map on watchList to assign a new array of objects with only title and rating keys. The new array should only include objects where imdbRating is greater than or equal to 8.0. Note that the rating values are saved as strings in the object and you may need to convert them into numbers to perform mathematical operations on them.

I can read the instructions. Did you read my question for you?

From that little bit of code, it doesn’t look like you store the result of calling map anywhere. The example stores the result in a variable called usersUnder30.
