How can I show an :active {

HI everyone , hope u are all well.

The main question is , that I’m not able to create an :active { to be able to show social media icons after I clicked in social media in my nav-bar in CSS.

I hope this makes sense as my English speaking is not the best .
Does anyone know the right way or mind sending me some documentation ?
