The css portion of this course doesn’t start until the cafe menu project.

This first cat photo app only involves HTML

I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you stuck on this step of the Cat Photos project?
If you want to learn CSS, then just keep going through these projects and it will all be covered in some detail as you progress.
