I’ve looked at my local job website where there are only six junior python developer jobs available at my local city centre. I haven’t looked at software or it company websites for their job listings.
I remember I did the exact same thing(applying to jobs in different programming languages) in 2018 however I did not follow this path, I got into one c# developer interview and two phone interviews.
What is the best advice to getting into interviews, which depends on my CV/resume and also becoming a python contractor?
I’ll be applying in several months time for jobs in C#, Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, Php, node.js.

Without a degree, back in 2018 I got into one c# developer interview and two phone interviews.
I know someone straight out of uni who worked as a freelancer and freelancers obtain work from agencies as a Php developer. I’m looking into python, JavaScript, c# etc.
What is the best advice to getting into interviews, which depends on my CV/resume and also becoming a contractor? Maybe put up a linkedin profile with my GitHub?
I think linkedin matters even though it’s a meme and yeah github can help. But the front door a lot of times is connections which you can make if you make projects for other people.
Phone the human resource departments of the companies you are interested in and ask them which hard and soft skills they look for in junior developers.
Ask them what criteria they look for when shortlisting applicants.
Then research the company to find about their culture, their values, and their recent history.
Highlight and feature the areas on you CV which matches what they are looking for.
A lot of jobs are not advertised, so you’ll need to network to make connections and find opportunities.
My current job is working with the public and it is a public job were I have to interact with people. That should be advantage because this shows good people skills. I get on well with people very easily. I’m sure this should be advantage. What better then to have experience in a very public job.
Is it possible to become a contractor through meet up events, networking in c#, java, python, c++, JavaScript? If I can show the self taught complex projects on GitHub.
it is possible that meetups would bring jobs yes, but you really need to check on tips for networking, if instead of meeting people and trying to give them value, you go with trying to show what you built, it may not have the result you wish
