the div background changes after entering the code but i cant get through the stage…

Your code is technically correct, but the tests checks if your first div has property background burlywood.

So delete the extra div and add background property to your existing div.

div {
first-property: value;
second-property: value;
}

Edit: Why do you want to write your code like above?

For readability, it’s hard to read your code when you have to add a selector like div for every property like background to change them.
