Incorrect lessons in Applied Visual Design

Tell us what’s happening:
I have some concerns about the content of some of the new modules added in the “Applied Visual Design” section of the course; specifically:

  • Use the strong Tag to Make Text Bold
  • Use the u Tag to Underline Text
  • Use the em Tag to Italicize Text

These lessons teach the use of <strong>, <u>, and <em> for the purposes of styling text bold, underlined, or italicized. For the styling purposes presented in these lessons, these tags have been deprecated for a while. Styling should only be done in CSS, not in HTML. Additionally, when used for styling, these tags have no meaningful semantic value.

Please update the course lessons appropriately, so FCC users are not misusing HTML incorrectly. See the following links for more information about the deprecation of these tags for styling:
