“Pico” is a unit of size. “RNA” is a molecule present in all life forms and is necessary for gene expression. “Picornaviruses” covers a wide range of very small, RNA viruses. The classification includes the common cold as well as much more serious illnesses.

I don’t know the relationship between the term “picoRNA” and the fact that penguins have the same color feet as beaks, but I assume that the contributor who named the CSS classes must know more about genetics than I do.

Long story short: “picornaviridae” is a disease, “picorna” is a neologism.
