Issue with Phone Number Verification on Gitpod

I am Wendry, and I am currently working with a group of students who are trying to register and verify their accounts on Gitpod. However, we have encountered an issue with the phone verification process.

Problem Description:

  • When entering a mobile phone number to receive the verification code, the following error message appears:
    “Error: Phone calls not allowed to the given number.”
  • This issue occurs even with valid mobile numbers from different carriers.
  • There is no option to receive the verification code via SMS instead of a phone call.

Actions Taken:
:heavy_check_mark: We verified that the phone numbers are correct and formatted properly.
:heavy_check_mark: We tried different mobile numbers, but the error persists.
:heavy_check_mark: We attempted the process at different times of the day.

We would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue, as my students need access to Gitpod to complete their activities.

Could you confirm if there are any restrictions based on certain countries or mobile providers?
Any guidance or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated.
