Tell us what’s happening:

When I am copying the file background.jpg to images, I am getting the error cp: -r not specified; omitting directory ‘background.jpg’, Even though I have enter the exact code mentioned in Hint section.

The command cp (copy) can copy the content of directories if you give it the flag -r, otherwise it will not do it and will complain if you try to copy a directory without -r.
Unfortunately, you have made background.jpg a directory (notice that it shows in blue which is a directory). background.jpg should be a normal file and then cp will not yell at you.
