The instruction: " Make sure to exclude the opening and closing style tags."

In the css file you cannot use the html elements. The opening and closing ‘style’ tags are not needed here. Also the instruction says to rewriting the styles you have created in html file. You didn’t add the property and its value:

  property: value;
}
