Learning to describe problems is hard, but it is an important part of learning how to code.

As already said, the numbers are not strings they are numbers.
You very rarely write numbers as strings, you write and use them as numbers and output them as strings. Chances are you will use the numbers to perform math so having them as strings would just complicate things (you would have to convert them every time).
