Learn CSS Transforms by Building a Penguin - Step 2

Hey guys, i’m trying to build a penguin and right now, i’ve been asked to target the body element and give it a background property and also a linear gradient. I’ve done this but it doesn’t seem to even acknowledge the background property in the body selector. Please what am i doing wrong?

<!-- file: index.html -->
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

  <head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="./styles.css" />
    <title>Penguin</title>
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" />
  </head>

  <body>
  </body>
</html>
/* file: styles.css */
body {
 background:
}
