Learn Intermediate CSS by Building Picasso Painting

I’m going through the lesson and found something weird. On step #86 they are using the following to create an irregular oval shape:- border-radius: 20px 50%;. (check the .eyes section in the css code.

According to this, top-left and bottom-right corners should have a radius of 20px whereas top-right and bottom-left corners should have a radius of 50%, right?!

But as far as I can tell by looking at the shape in the lesson that the opposite is happening i.e. top-left and bottom-right corners have a radius of 50% and top-right and bottom-left have a radius of 20px. How’s this happening?

It would be wonderful if you could post what you have tried so that we go from there.

Hi!

I did whatever the instructions of the lesson were but the output was different from what I expected.

I have added the link to the step I’m talking about. Let me know if I should share the code of the whole step!

Post your full code here so others can help

Okay, I added the code! My problem is in the .eyes section of the css code.

if there is only one value for border-radius, it is an all rounded one : top-left, top-right, bottom-right and bottom-left

If two values, first value is top-left and top-right and second value is bottom-right and bottom-left

if three values, first value applies to top-left corner, second value applies to top-right and bottom-left corners, and third value applies to bottom-right corner

if four values, first value applies to top-left corner, second value applies to top-right corner, third value applies to bottom-right corner, and fourth value applies to bottom-left corner

the first number is the top-left and bottom-right yes.
It seems to be working perfectly for me.
Maybe you are struggling to see it so use this code temporarily to illustrate it better

.eyes {
  width: 135px;
  height: 120px;
  background-color: #8B4513;
  border: 1px solid white;
  border-radius: 20px 50%
}
