Learn Lambda Functions by Building an Expense Tracker - Step 14

Tell us what’s happening:

Step 14
You should see something like <map object at 0xd273a8> printed on the console, which is the string representation of the map object returned by map(), got stuck while trying to solve this : def add_expense(expenses, amount, category):
expenses.append({‘amount’: amount, ‘category’: category})

def print_expenses(expenses):

test = lambda x: x * 2
print(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8]))
#my newly added code below:
list(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8])) , but wasn’t working, kindly please assist.

Your code so far

def add_expense(expenses, amount, category):
    expenses.append({'amount': amount, 'category': category})

def print_expenses(expenses):
    for expense in expenses:
        print(f'Amount: {expense["amount"]}, Category: {expense["category"]}')

def total_expenses(expenses):
    pass

# User Editable Region

test = lambda x: x * 2
print(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8]))
list(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8]))

Don’t add a new line, modify the existing print line.

thanks @pkdvalis, but this dosen’t work : list(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8]));
neither this : print(list(map(test, [2, 3, 5, 8])));

Are you adding the semicolons just for the forum?

Because your last line is correct but python does not take semicolons

alright, thanks i really appreciate
