What does the lesson require?

You only need to add ! operator before the numberInput.value and remove === equals and "" string within your if condition.

Update the condition in your if statement to use the logical NOT operator to check if numberInput.value is falsy.

if (numberInput.value === “”) {
}

They are asking you to change the condition in your if statement, not in your function body.
