At the end of your loop body, declare a variable called new_index and assign the value of index + shift to this variable.

You’ve done this successfully here:

new_index=(index + shift)

Although those parentheses are unnecessary and should be removed.

You also added other things that the instructions do not ask for. You could remove those or reset the step.
