Making my Navbar transparent

Hey there, I’m working on my portfolio website, and I have a basic template laid out, and I managed to get a bootstrap nav bar working, but I’m struggling with a few things. And I don’t necessarily want the answer given to me but I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction
Here are the goals.

Navbar should be transparent. (Seriously what am I doing wrong? ><)
I’d like the navbar to slide out from the left, not the top.
I’d like to color the menu when it unfolds.

Does anybody have some tips on figuring these out? Thank you!

Hello Jessicajoy,

If I understand your problem correctly, you should be able to just apply a negative margin to the body element, equal to the height of your navbar. Your navbar is transparent, but it is pushing the rest of the page down, so your background starts ~53px below the top of the page.
