Profile Lookup Challenge

Tell us what’s happening:
I am stuck here and don’t know the way out. I think my code is correct. I took some help from hint but its not working. Please help.

Your code so far

var result = "";
var contacts = [
        "firstName": "Akira",
        "lastName": "Laine",
        "number": "0543236543",
        "likes": ["Pizza", "Coding", "Brownie Points"]
        "firstName": "Harry",
        "lastName": "Potter",
        "number": "0994372684",
        "likes": ["Hogwarts", "Magic", "Hagrid"]
        "firstName": "Sherlock",
        "lastName": "Holmes",
        "number": "0487345643",
        "likes": ["Intriguing Cases", "Violin"]
        "firstName": "Kristian",
        "lastName": "Vos",
        "number": "unknown",
        "likes": ["Javascript", "Gaming", "Foxes"]

function lookUpProfile(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
  for(var i = 0; i < contacts.length; i++){
if(contacts[i].firstName === firstName){
  if (contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)){
    return contacts[i][prop];
    return "No such property";
      return "No such contact";
// Change these values to test your function
lookUpProfile("Akira", "likes");

Link to the challenge:

For the test case of:

lookUpProfile("Kristian", "lastName");

if you put the following console.log statement on the line before your first if statement, you will see it does not get past the first iteration in the for loop:

console.log(firstName, prop, contacts[i].firstName)

The above results in:

Kristian lastName Akira

and since “Kristian” is not equal to “Akira” your outer else of

return "No such contact";

is executed and the function is exited.
