Quality Assurance Projects - American British Translator / need some explaining please

Hi !
I want to start this project, but I find it a little confusing. Can you please explain why there are three files for the different words, like “American-only,” “British-only,” and “American-British-spelling”? What’s the difference between all of them?

PS: English is not my first language, as you might have guessed, nor have I learned it in school.

You have the following dictionaries, which you should use for translation:

  1. american-only.js - a dictionary of words commonly used in American English with their British English equivalents (e.g. sidewalk = pavement).

  2. british-only.js - words commonly used in British English with their American English equivalents (e.g. aubergine = eggplant).

  3. american-to-british-spelling.js - A large dictionary of words which are spelled differently in American and British English (e.g. aluminum = aluminium).

  4. british-to-american-titles.js - A very small dictionary of titles, which are prefixed with a period in American English and not in British English (e.g. Mr. = Mr).

Your task is to use these dictionaries however you choose so that any block of text written in either American or British English will be translated successfully in either direction.

Good luck… it’s a tricky project but very satisfying when you get it right!
