So in the Personal Portfolio example codepen, there’s a grid of images/text which serve as links to the respective project its describing. I was wondering if there’s a way to extract/display these images from the links to my own personal projects, or if I’m supposed to host the images myself and link to them externally?

If you are using codepen, then you can read this blog post on how to get screenshots.
If you are not using codepen, then you can take screenshots of your projects, host them, and add the image url to your code.
