Review JavaScript Fundamentals by Building a Gradebook App - Step 4

Tell us what’s happening:

I am having trouble wrapping my head around this… Please describe this to me in further detail without using coding language. Like basic language would be nice… I have ADHD.

Your code so far

function getAverage(scores) {
  let sum = 0;

  for (const score of scores) {
    sum += score;
  }

  return sum / scores.length;
}

function getGrade(score) {
  if (score === 100) {
    return "A++";
  } else if (score >= 90) {
    return "A";
  } else if (score >= 80) {
    return "B";
  } else if (score >= 70) {
    return "C";
  } else if (score >= 60) {
    return "D";
  } else {
    return "F";
  }
}

function hasPassingGrade(score) {
  return getGrade(score) !== "F";
}

BASIC is a coding language. :joy:

It would help if you had a more specific question.

Welcome to the forum @bcherish91

  • Use the getAverage function to get the class average.

Determine the average score for the class.

  • Use the getGrade function to get the student’s grade.

Using an individual student’s score, lookup their grade,

  • Use string concatenation (+) to build the message.

Write a sentence, based on what is given in the instructions, for two scenarios: the student passes, or the student fails. Use the plus sign to add words (strings) and variables (strings and numbers) :wink:

  • Be careful with the punctuation and spaces in the message.

You need to be exact with the spelling and spacing of words.

Happy coding
