i am having trouble adding the link for my style.css file

i also am not on step 12 i dont know why that is linked and not step 17.

You have given extra "<" and ">", this is not a part of css.
It is also good to indent your css for “readability”

div{
  color: red;  /* This is some indented css */
}

When your css is properly aligned, it becomes more readable.

The problem is from your href add “s” to your ‘style’

i.e use href=“styles.css”

It should run now
