This is incorrect

Also, you don’t need to add an extra set of <> here

I would suggest resetting the lesson.
I think it would help to look at the official documentation to get the correct syntax

Take a close look at their first example on how they add the type="text" to the input.

Yes, input is a self-closing tag.

MDN has a list of self closing tags

The ones you will use a lot from this list will be the img, link, meta and input elements
