$("#left-well").parent().css("background-color", "red")
replace #left-well with target1

your current code’s target is #left-well's parents which iscol-xs-6
change it to target1's parent’s which is#left-well

i have 2 questions
one why

on this code the button #target5 cloned twice !!
and the parent() function what does it do exactly cause if i wanted to change the background color for an element couldn’t i change it using .css function ?!
