I’m pretty sure this site has a bug here…Why is not the correct response?

No it’s just not correct. It looks like you created a new input. You should be using the one they gave you in the form

Your text input element should have the required attribute.

This does not mean to create a new, it means to add a required attribute to an already created input element,

You need to remove this and add the required attr to the input already created
