hi I’m Rey. i’m clinging to the mid 40s - just barely. i’m a hardware guy - i’ve been doing asic & fpga (aka chip) design and verification for the past 24 years. It’s really all software these days but in boring languages like VHDL & Verilog. Over the years, I’ve forced my hardware-centric brain to experience coding different things due to my home automation hobby. As a result, I taught myself Perl, Python, .NET, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, MySQL, etc, but only the bits I needed to know for my home automation projects like this. Lots of my coding knowledge is hacky so I’m here to learn the right way and also to pick up new stuff, and who knows, maybe even transition out of hardware to software at some point.
