Hello,
What projects that I made can be added in my portfolio. Like only the final project, or I can showcase the lab projects and workshop. If I give credits to freeCodeCamp camp can I use the lab and workshop projects.
Thanks
In your portfolio, you will want to showcase projects that took you weeks or months to build. These would be full stack projects with some depth and complexity to it. Preferably something that solves some sort of problem like a scheduling application or something along those lines.
The labs and workshops are meant for initial learning and practice. But when you want to apply for jobs, that is where the competition sets in. So you will need projects that help you stand out and have something you can talk about in interviews.
hope that helps
Thanks for your response.
I am trying for freelancing so I was thinking to add the lab projects or workshops to show my ability to code
My initial response still applies
I have a lot of friends that freelance and work with a variety of clients. Their portfolios have previous client projects and personal projects with some depth to them.
Freelancing is totally doable but still just as competitive as trying to get a developer job through a company. So you will still need to stand out. And the labs and workshops are great for learning but it won’t be enough to stand out in the crowd.
I could see some of the later labs in the backend chapter working if you decided to go out of your way to add a whole bunch of extra features and turn them into really nice full stack projects. But in general, using the labs and workshops won’t be enough to stand out.
You can include final projects, lab, and workshop projects in your portfolio. Just credit freeCodeCamp for any projects completed as part of their curriculum.
lab and final projects could be reasonable
workshop not so much considering you are guided step by step
