Adding images to website

Tell us what’s happening:
Describe your issue in detail here.

I am working on the Responsive Web Design project. I got to the point of adding an image and ran into an issue. The image appears when I type out the code and I added an alt for the image as well but it doesn’t seem to be registering. I haven’t been able to move past this part of the project. I followed the video tutorial exactly as it was typed out and still haven’t been able to move forward. The code I used was <img src=https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat alt= Relaxing cat/>. Is it that the code is in the wrong spot? I can’t seem to figure out the issue.

  **Your code so far**

<h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>
<main>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p>Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.</p>
</main>

I’ve edited your post for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

See this post to find the backtick on your keyboard.
Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (’).

Hello Briauna,
There seems to be an error with the alt part of your code. Add double quotes (" ") around the alt text, and you are good to go, like so: :blush:

<img src=https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat alt="Relaxing cat"/>

To the above point, every HTML attribute needs to have quotes on it:

<img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="Relaxing cat"/>
