Basic JavaScript - Golf Code

Im currently working on the “Golf Code” problem and I cant seem to find an issue with my code. Many thanks for yall’s help!

My code so far

const names = ["Hole-in-one!", "Eagle", "Birdie", "Par", "Bogey", "Double Bogey", "Go Home!"];

function golfScore(par, strokes) {
  // Only change code below this line
if (strokes = 1) {
  return names[0];
} else if (strokes <= par - 2) {
  return names[1];
} else if (strokes = par - 1) {
  return names[2];
} else if (strokes = par) {
  return names[3];
} else if (strokes = par + 1){
  return names[4];
} else if (strokes = par + 2) {
  return names[5];
} else if (strokes >= par + 3) {
  return names[6];

  return "Change Me";
  // Only change code above this line

golfScore(5, 4);

Challenge: Basic JavaScript - Golf Code

Link to the challenge:

please clarify what you are seeing in terms of errors or failed tests.

Are you familiar with the difference between a = b and a == b?

Try to use == instead of equal = to make sure code is working correctly
Otherwise, It will throw an error forever:

// Below

That’s it, happy coding!

It is great that you solved the challenge, but instead of posting your full working solution, it is best to stay focused on answering the original poster’s question(s) and help guide them with hints and suggestions to solve their own issues with the challenge.

We are trying to cut back on the number of spoiler solutions found on the forum and instead focus on helping other campers with their questions and definitely not posting full working solutions.
