Browser Runtime and the Eventual Rust Overtaking

I learnt about BrowserPod by their Rust support release article. They are doing something I have been toying with for years - a browser API wrapper to allow OS-level code to run in the browser client.

Obviously, from an in-browser, interactive curriculum standpoint, this tool would open a huge range of curricula topics, but, like everything else, BrowserPod are also pointing out potential benefits for “AI” sandboxing. To be fair, I would appreciate a web directory of all the prototypes I have LLMs generate, instead of a random bunch of /tmp/ projects I lose next session.

Currently, BrowserPod’s source is closed and proprietary :frowning: (reading it would have been incredibly interesting to me), but they do have a few interesting articles about the implementation and technical challenges.

Has anyone here done much work around Web Assembly? Or, have experience with porting non-browser tools to the browser?
