[COLLATION]: Relation Database Submission Issue

Issue

This is now Resolved

Finishing the last step of a Relation Database curriculum project does not get saved as completed.

Cause

With a release on 15/05/2025, there is a bug in the authorization for submitting these projects progress.

Fix

NOTE: Once the above PR is merged, it still needs to be deployed for changes to take affect. This topic will be updated, as progress to a solution is made.

Once a fix is made, you will be required to re-submit the project. This involves either:

  • Completing the final step of a lesson-based project
  • Re-submitting a certification project

Hi there,
I’m creating this post to raise a concern and also request clarification. I’ve noticed a growing number of issues with the Relational Databases course on freeCodeCamp — particularly in sections like “Learn Bash by Building a Boilerplate”, “Kitty Ipsum Translator”, and others. Many lessons don’t get marked as completed, even after finishing all the steps. This not only affects tracking progress but also leads to confusion, especially when trying to revisit or review lessons later. I understand these projects might not be part of official certification, but it would still be very helpful if our progress could be tracked properly. I’m not the only one experiencing this — I’ve seen others in the forum mention it too.

Can this be fixed? Or is this behavior intentional? If a fix is in progress, do we have any expected timeline?
Thanks in advance!

last week a new internal API has been released, I’ve notified the developers that dealt with it, but it’s the weekend, there has been no investigation yet

Oh okay. Hope it gets fixed soon!
Also, just wondering — once it’s fixed, will we need to redo the course again for it to show as completed?

Ah, alright. Thanks for the info! Just keep us updated if any new info comes in — that would be really helpful.

this should solve the issue

note, it will not automatically mark stuff as completed, it will only make possible to complete things again

I am signed in, completed course ‘Kitty ipsum translator’, but it’s progress from Gitpod is not updating in FCC.

Completed it in both VS Code browser, and desktop… just in case.

I’m logged in.. everytime I start the workspace from Gitpod dashboard, it shows ‘Completed’ as expected.

Also tried running the steps mentioned here: Progress didnt got saved
i.e. export COADROAD_WEBHOOK_TOKEN=“userToken”

But however many times I refresh, reload, reboot … FCC is not updating.

Hi,

I’ve just finished the “Learn Bash Scripting by Building Five Programs” step from the “Relational Database” course. I intended to complete it in one go but returned to it only now after 14 days. For some reason, even though I completed it on Gitpod and saw the “Congratulations” modal, I still can’t see a checkmark in front of this step on the freeCodeCamp website. Could you suggest a way to fix this? I’ve reloaded the page several times and returned to Gitpod, but it’s still not working.

yes i have. but i still kinda want the certification.

Build a boilerplate is not one of the five required certification projects, having it marked as uncomplete doesn’t change your eligibility for the certification

okay. but is there any explanation for fcc prompting me to complete my project (the celestial bodies) even after gitpod has certified that i had completed it? all the requirements on the coderoad command palette are checked, but when i try to submit my github url, it tells me “you must complete your project first.”
