First line of html

below mentioned code " ensures the browser tries to meet industry-wide
specifications." what is the meaning of this sentence ?

<!DOCTYPE html>

In the internet it says, that this sentence signifies or tells the page that it is a document type website. I think it kind of tells the website that they are universal type.

Yeah, don’t worry about it. It’s just asserting that this page will be an html page and will comply with that standard. It’s a hold over from the old days when there was more than one standard.

You can read about it here and here.

But don’t worry about it. It’s like learning to drive. Why does green mean go and red mean stop? Just because. You don’t need to learn the history of that to know how to drive - just do it.
