Don’t hire freelancers and just do it yourself then. You’re making a point that’s equivalent to ‘I’m concerned about hiring staff in my shop because they have access to my stock and I’m scared they’ll steal it’
You should learn about NDAs. Standard in all industries.
I think it’s worth bringing up a “startup rule” that I’ve heard often in the past.
Don’t try to make your best idea first.
A good idea doesn’t guarantee success. There’s a lot of factors beyond just a “good idea”. If your idea is great, then there will be copycats. The key is in the execution of your idea.
Because of this, your best idea should be made later once you iron out the kinks of your execution.
For example, if the first time your coding is coding for your best idea, odds are you will run into more problems and issues before executing your idea well, thus resulting in a worse overall product than if you built something simpler/easier/different first, used that as a learning opportunity and then took all those lessons to build your main idea.
You can always “build up” to your big idea, by gather the right resources/knowledge/experience to execute your “big idea”, but approaching that big idea first usually will result in a lot of “tech debt” as your learning as you go.
Good luck, keep learning, keep building ![]()
