Opted to post separate of the help button. As I can complete at least steps 53 and 54 without an answer to this post but I does seem to be the intended way. Onto the question.
I have be able to download/create a desktop app. This app is the course as a separate application to my browser however I have not be able to find requested information. Can you help me. I use edge as my browser but I am open to download another browser should this be the best option or only way. Feel free to point me to a video or external website or just help yourself.
Desktop app is probably not the right term browser or web app is probably at least closer to the correct name.
it is not, it is a headless version of your browser. There isn’t a desktop application for freeCodeCamp.
You have not described what issue you are having with the project, could you please add that?
Having thought about it one of my problems and one that causes the other is I don’t know how to access local storage. The apps menu item I can find on my browser, I can only find out how to create and view apps. I appears creating an app may have been a mistake but what else do, I do. Let me know if that is enough information I am struggle to know what I am being asked to do, hence having trouble explaining, what the issue is.
what do you mean with ‘access local storage’? do you mean, see the item in there from the browser console? or using localStorage
API?
if it’s the devtools, you should still be able to open them even in the headless browser
Browser console is a very unfamiliar word to me. API I cannot remember what that is beyond the First word is either Application or Appliance and last is interface. Either way I cannot find local storage. The apps button
I can find is on a drop down of the '… ’ button.
where are you searching local storage? I am having difficulties understanding what you are doing so I don’t know how to help you
I have since worked out a different way to find apps from a new tab as suggested in the course but I am in the same boat. How do I get to local storage.
not there, in the DevTools
you can find them under More tools
there you can open the DevTools, and in the devtools you should find an App tab
Then click on Developer tools I assume.
I can find the console a way to open the freeCodeCamp home page in another tab, but not an app tab in developers tools or local storage.
You should see here how to get to the local storage
It is 9pm my time I am going to leave for today their is a chance it may be next Friday till I get back to it. I will let you how it goes. For now thankyou for all your help Today and previously.
As you might have seen I have now completed the TODA app programs. It should be noted that the tutorial is based on an a different (likely older) version of edge than mine. In addition to developer tools being accessed a different way as you have already explained, the application tab now has a symbol with name only visible when the box is made wide enough or you hover over the symbol. The symbol is a square with rounded corner and an horizontal line within it full width of the square, near the top. In other words a symbol fittingly resembles a computer window/popup in simplistic way.
I do not use Edge, so I hoped that article would have been more helpful than me in explaining where to find what you were searching
Matter is solved for me but that screenshot may helpful for those reading this in the future.
If you are wondering why I have not ticked solution that is because I feel they should be one post covering everything , which I will do when I have time.
Having had some thinking time did you manage to get develop tools to be a separate window/tab, if so how. I have only been able to make it work with them in the same tab as the course. If not, this is non problem I am comfortable, if the only way is having them in the same tab.
there is the option somewhere to have the devtools on the side you prefer (left, right, bottom) or a separate tag, I don’t exactly where on edge
