Something is off with the spacing in the editor. If I copy your code and hit <delete> once at the end of the opening span tag, I get this:

<span class="stat">                    XP: 0
                    </span>

So there’s a bunch of spaces in front of XP: 0. Put each span open and close on one line to make the spacing explicit:
