The instructions: " Use getElementById() to get the id of the currently playing song…"

Ssign the proper value to the const songToHighlight.
Use document.getElementById(), then add the template literals with the prefix, between parentheses, but surround them with backticks.

what part of my code earlier did not match the instruction.

The first const is not needed here at all. The second is OK, but the value assigned to that variable should be as you did for the first const here, except that you have to surround everything between parentheses with `` backticks.
