Remove the checked attribute from here and put it here:

still, not working. it says Your first radio button, with the id set to indoor , should have the checked attribute.

At this point it appears you placed the checked in an unwanted line.
It should be on this line:

<label><input id="indoor" type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor" value="indoor"> Indoor</label>

That’s what the instructions are asking.

The request is specifically saying:

Make the first radio button and the first checkbox selected by default.

That reference to the first radio button implicitly expects that you know that the first radio is found in the first input within the first <fieldset></fieldset>.
If this is still not clear, please, ask more. It will not do you a favor not to know in future steps.
