Link_to Internal Sections of a Page with Anchor Elements

**Hello. I’m supposed to be internally linking a part of the page to the bottom page so it jumps from top to the footer I’ve done 4 out of 6 steps but I can’t make sense of how to do the remaining two steps. The remaining two steps are:

The a tag should have an href attribute set to “#footer

The footer tag should have an id attribute set to “footer”. **

Read the instructions again carefully. You didn’t modify the a element or the footer element.

I can’t understand the way it is worded.

What part is confusing? Do you know what an element is?

It says to change the “href” to #footer so I interpret this to mean either delete href and replace it with #footer or place it alongside href? And placing the “id” element next to the footer at the bottom is wrong…And I don’t know how the # is connected to the href to the footer to the…what is the value of the id attribute? I don’t know where the hash goes in the row wither. :grimacing:

I think I’m going to run away and go into hiding now until everything blows over…

                                                                                                      :worried::weary::worried:

Remember from the last challenge you did:

anchor elements need a destination web address called an href attribute.

For an internal like that “destination web address” is an element on the page. The symbol # in this case means “an id equal to” so by making the href attribute equal to "#footer" we are saying the destination is the element with an id equal to "footer".

An id isn’t an element. It’s an attribute. So far you’ve handled attributes like src, alt and href. An id attribute is added to an element the same way that these other attributes are added to their elements.
