apparently it is not a bug (trying to get some more info)
Welcome there,
The freeCodeCamp Exam Environment Desktop Application available for download from either one of the curriculum exam pages on https://freecodecamp.org/learn or the GitHub repository Releases page (Releases · freeCodeCamp/exam-env · GitHub) is signed by, and attached to certificates for the Microsoft and Apple builds. Unfortunately, without doing one of the following:
a) Dealing with software stores
b) Spending hundreds (sometimes thousands) of USD per year to get a certified third party to provide an EV certificate
We need to grin-and-bear “untrusted” warnings and antivirus false positive flags. Standard practices have been taken to alleviate these false positives, but these processes can be slow, and need repeating per release.
Practically, on Windows, this means allowing the application both to download and be installed, and, on MacOS, this means authorizing the exception.
Hope this helps
Hi All, I am also having the same issue. So are you guys saying that the program is safe to download? And to ignore antivirus software?
yes that is correct. You can go ahead.
