I was curious to see if it was allowed to stream on Twitch, or YouTube going through courses on freecodecamp. I’m not trying to get into any trouble. So I figured I’d ask here to make sure it was okay. I am attempting to sorta reboot my online streaming content and stream in real time my learning of writing code, going in from knowing little to nothing. Going through courses and streaming myself going through topics and completing courses. But as I said before, I wanted to get confirmation that this was allowed before starting this journey. Are there any restrictions I should be aware of? Or am I free to stream anything from the site freely without any issue. Thanks In advance!
Yes, you’re allowed to stream yourself going through freeCodeCamp courses on Twitch or YouTube. Their curriculum is open-source (under the BSD license), which means you can freely use and share it as part of your own learning journey. The only real restriction is that you shouldn’t re-upload freeCodeCamp’s videos directly without adding your own input — instead, stream yourself working through exercises, coding, and giving commentary.
A lot of people already do this to share their progress and connect with other learners. Just make sure to follow Twitch/YouTube’s community guidelines, and you’ll be fine.
So in short — yes, you’re free to stream your learning process without any issues.
