Does anyone have any insight into opportunities for working remotely as a developer?

I’m not talking about freelance work but like a real part or full time position with a company, just location-independent, especially for someone where this would be their first job as a developer.

I see a dozen or so every week, though virtually none are entry level or junior positions. But that’s true of posts I see for Boston, NYC, and DC areas too.
