Responsive web design exams

I need help on how to take the responsive web design final exam, because whenever I download the app and try opening it, it’s not launching.

I am not sure they are actually available yet, have you seen an announcement?

Hi @Pelpuo_Numbu !

Welcome to the forum!

Can you provide us with more details?

Which operating system are you using?

When you are on the exam page, are you trying the Download latest version button?

or the manual download?

I am using windows operating system.

You try opening it will like this

:waving_hand:
Have you installed the app? (not just downloaded it)

Whenever I click on the download latest version, it will download alright but when I try launching it, it comes as launch with notepad. That’s the confusing aspect of it.

Am trying the download latest version

Please share a screenshot of this behaviour

This comment is interesting for several reasons. I was also waiting for an announcement, but I noticed that the exam has already been available for a few days. I honestly still don’t understand why FCC hasn’t said anything about it; at least I haven’t seen anything. The fact that even a staff member doesn’t know about it says a lot, I guess.

Also, regarding what user Pelpuo_Numbu mentioned: the Exam Environment App downloads as a .crdownload file because the file hasn’t been reported as safe yet. At least, that’s what’s happening on my Windows 11 computer using the Edge browser. And when you manually allow the download and run the .exe file, Windows Defender SmartScreen warns you again and asks if you’re really sure you want to execute it.

For this reason, I haven’t run the file yet, even though I do trust you guys. But I was waiting for more information about it.

Hope you guys can figure it out. Thank you for the support and for the course!

it looks like there was a soft launch before the announcement to see if there are any issues, the announcement should come in a few days

To confirm, we intentionally did a soft launch. Announcements with plenty information will come in the coming days.

To clarify, this will likely happen for a while until the application builds enough trust the Windows Smart Screen. That is, enough people need to download and allow it, then Windows will add it to an allow list.

The app is signed by, and attached to a Microsoft Azure certificate. Unfortunately, without doing one of the following:
a) Dealing with the Microsoft Store (tried, and not a nice experience as a developer nor application user)
b) Spending hundreds (sometimes thousands) of USD per year to get a certified third party to provide an EV certificate

We need to grin-and-bear the smart screen warning.

Hope this clarifies
